Editorial Policy

We write about supplements, which means we write about your health. That puts a higher bar on us than on most ecommerce content, and it should. This page sets out how we make what you read here, what we will not do, and how to tell us we got something wrong.

Who Writes This

Articles on the Health Guide are published under a named author who is accountable for them. Nothing appears here under a house byline, a pen name, or no name at all. If you want to know who told you something, the byline tells you.

Our writing is editorial, not medical advice. We are not your doctor, we have not seen your chart, and we say so on the pages where it matters most.

How We Handle Ingredient Claims

Every statement about what is in an OffScript product is checked against our formulation record before publication. That record, not the marketing copy, is the source of truth.

Three rules follow from it:

  • We never claim an ingredient we do not use. If an article discusses Ashwagandha, Bacopa, Lion's Mane or Ginkgo, it says plainly that they are not in our formulas. They are not.
  • We print every dose. All eight ingredients in FOCUS+FLOW and all five in CALM+COLLECTED are listed with their amounts. No proprietary blends, because a proprietary blend exists to stop you checking.
  • We publish the unflattering numbers too. FOCUS+FLOW contains 18mg of Citicoline, which is below the range used in most published research. We print it anyway, in the ingredient tables, on the blog. The alternative is hiding it inside a blend and hoping nobody checks. You should check.

What We Will Not Claim

  • No disease claims. Our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. We write "promotes calm," never "treats anxiety."
  • No "clinically proven." Research on an ingredient is not proof about a finished product. We describe what studies found, at what dose, in whom, and we name the limits.
  • No invented evidence. We do not cite trials on our own products, because none exist. We do not publish testimonials we did not receive.
  • No fear marketing. We are critical of incentives in the pharmaceutical industry. That is separate from the person deciding treatment with their doctor, and we do not use one to sell against the other.

How We Compare Against Competitors

We publish comparisons against other brands. When we do, we use only facts those brands state publicly about themselves, and we say where they beat us.

Some examples already on this site: powders beat mints on cost per dose and on how much of an ingredient they can carry. Alpha Brain is deliberately caffeine-free, which is the right choice for some people and not a flaw. Prescription options are more powerful and more tightly regulated than any supplement, ours included.

A comparison where we win every row is an advertisement, not a comparison.

Corrections

We get things wrong. When we find an error, or you tell us about one, we fix the article itself rather than quietly deleting it, and we do not leave the wrong version in place while we decide.

Found something inaccurate? Tell us through the contact page. Specific beats polite: the page, the sentence, and what is wrong with it.

Reviews + Updates

Supplement research moves, and an article that was accurate two years ago may not be now. We revisit ingredient and dosage articles as the evidence changes rather than on a fixed schedule, and we would rather rewrite a page than leave a stale one ranking.

A Note On Advice

Nothing here is a substitute for talking to a clinician who knows your history. If you take medication, are pregnant or nursing, or are managing a diagnosed condition, ask your doctor before adding a supplement. Interactions are individual, and no label can account for your situation.

If focus, sleep or anxiety have been a persistent difficulty across years rather than a hard week, that deserves a proper evaluation. No supplement answers that question, and we will not pretend otherwise.
